Prayer before Post

Something I wrote during the 2nd Covid-19 wave. Thought about saving it in my blog

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” – Proverbs 29:2 I get it! You might be frustrated at the situation right now. You feel helpless. We want the lockdowns to end, we want the cases to reduce, we expect capable governance so that we can enjoy freely once again. Some of us are even selfish (that’s how we humans generally are) because we love our freedom more than others safety which at the moment seems to be snatched against our will due to the lockdown. But what we ultimately need is freedom from sin which is found in Christ alone by grace provided by God through Faith & through the working of the Holy Spirit.

Christian, before posting that post/story, before making that comment on social media about a certain mismanagement by the government, did you take time to pray about it? Did you take it to God in prayer? Is God your first resort or is He kept for after you’ve ranted your feelings on social media? You may think you’ve been lied to on certain data by those in authority, reflect on the times you’ve lied (no matter how small or a white lie), wasn’t that also a sin against a Holy God who should be your ultimate authority? Isn’t God & not the government who is sovereign over everything? If you really believe that God reigns over everything and has everything in control (which He does), then don’t put your hopes in the governments, în vaccines, put it in the Lord, for He ordains the time for when these all will be set in place. “For there is no authority except from God & the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” – Romans 13:1

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” – Psalms 42:11 You might be feeling torn apart with the situation, I understand your soul is grieving even looking at the news, you might not even feel like waking up from bed & stepping out to buy essentials & hoping this is all a dream, but go first to God rather than social media, remember Psalms 34:18- “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart & saves such as have a contrite spirit.” In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus promises rest for your souls when you are weary and burdened.

Finally, God is Faithful & True to His promises, Revelation 21:4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” When taken in context, this verse isn’t talking about this life, it’s not about the here and the now, so we should preach the Gospel & live it out!
